Assembly: Black Crane is inspired by your Japanese roots, by ancient Japanese culture and civilization--how does this translate into your design process?
Black Crane: Our design aesthetic have been influenced by Wabi Sabi, which described as appreciating imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. We enjoy applying the idea of appreciating kind of beauty that can be only with age by using natural fiber or using raw edge finishes to let garments to be timeless along with simplicity.
Do you like tattoos? Do either of you have any?
Yes. I have small 3 dots on back of my ankle. #3 means past- present - future.
